Some other shingle brands’ warranties stipulate that only defects which cause leaks are covered.
The CertainTeed SureStart™ warranty also covers 100% of the labor costs required to repair defective shingles or apply new shingles to replace the defective shingles. CertainTeed pays this based on the labor value at the repair time.

Living in South Florida, we know the wind can get a little crazy sometimes. So, CertainTeed offers a wind warranty upgrade which warrants its shingles will resist blow-off damage due to high wind velocities up to a maximum velocity of 130 mph. Some other manufacturers only provide wind warranty coverage up to 73 mph during a hurricane. Meaning, there is no coverage for damage caused by a hurricane which starts at winds of 74 MPH.
